As a soloist, Brenda loves to play jazz and blues, but she also still enjoys playing Bach or the French impressionists from time to time.
She particularly likes giving home concerts. On these occasions, she spontaneously and with humour takes her audience on a journey through time; from folk, via baroque, classical and romantic times towards some surprising new developments... |
Brenda and her fellow harpist Sabine Meijers are performing as a harp duo, spanning 10 centuries of music history, and usually culminating in jazz and blues; starting out accoustically and finishing on solid body electric harps. |
Together with bassoon player Marieke voor de Wind, she forms the heart of Vision Improv, a group of artists who, based on absolute free improvisations, instantly creates unique, often multi-disciplinary work. Collaborating Vision artists are Jolande Leeflang (painter), Miriam Stark (modern dance) and Boudewijn Betzema (story teller, poet, voice artist). |
Stylistically diverse, often pulsating music, interactive and with humour; this characterizes her improvisations with violin player Sietse van Gorkom. |
Cool lounge and dance music is to be heard when she plays alongside DJ Robert Feelgood. |
With violin player Robert Baba, Brenda is playing more 'regular' jazz, with an eastern European touch.
